The foundation, for multiple years, has sponsored a Capstone Senior Design Project at Louisiana State University. It is a two-semester program called the Subsea Exhibit Able to Integrate Grade-level Expectations with ROVs, or SEATIGER, which requires the student team to plan and engineer their idea in the fall semester and manufacture and deliver their product in the spring.
The most valuable aspect of this project was not necessarily the fact that students spent their last semester in college working with subsea engineers and other industry professionals to define, engineer and build their project, but the deliverables they produced. They provided the STF with a series of hands-on science class demonstrations of several of the engineering principles that we use every day in our business (i.e., buoyancy, pressure, leverage, etc.). Also included is a trailer- mounted tank and mini-ROV that provides an opportunity for the SEATIGER students and STF volunteers to illustrate our business and its engineering principals to the community.
Your contribution will enable us to support our mission. We are very grateful for your generosity.
The SEATIGER projects have become the mascot of the STF education and outreach programs, making appearances throughout the year.
